Now, one topic that has been discussed by many people, is whether or not Duke Nukem Forever can live up to the expectations that the fans have built up, and it's doubtful that it can. The reason for this, simply put, is that this game has become a kind of forbidden fruit. Over the last 14 years we've seen screenshots and trailers that keep the game on the edge of everyone's mind, and even though it's been the brunt of many jokes, every time you laugh about how the game won't come out, you think to your self; "It probably will come eventually, and probably be good." Since it was made apparent that Duke Nukem Forever wasn't going to come out in any good time, people have been building it up to be some kind of perfect game, one that no game can live up to.
However, just because this game won't descend from the sky and grant upon each and every person who bought it a pot of gold, doesn't mean it won't be bad, at this point it has to be judged by standards that haven't been building that long. The game will still carry the over-the-top crazy violence of the early FPS's and Duke is still the characteristically misogynistic ass-hole we've all come to love, with half naked girls in the starting level, and being able to sign Duke's autobiography entitled Why I'm So Great, so don't worry about having to control someone with things like emotions or morals to get in the way of all the murder.

Duke Nukem Forever isn't going to be the solid gold, diamond encrusted, chocolate dispensing, money printing gift from God that people want it to be, but based on the game-play that's been shown it looks a heck of a lot better than a lot of the generic FPS's that have been coming out lately. However, the thing that you must remember above all else about this game, is that it is actually coming out, for real this time... hopefully.
