When someone hears the name Rockstar, they immediately think on Grand Theft Auto, and all the psychotic fun that comes with the sandbox. Stealing cars, driving through crowds of people, and using a rocket launcher to take care of the victims are all common occurrences in the world of GTA, however, you shouldn't try that in the up-coming game L.A. Noire.
In L.A. Noire, you play as Cole Phelps, an LAPD officer trying to raise through the ranks of the police by solving cases and catching criminals. The game is apparently less focused on the sandbox element, and has a heavy emphasis on the story, kind of like a cross between GTA andHeavy Rain. Now, as a police officer, you wouldn't want to go on a mass killing spree in the middle of the city, (you're a good guy remember) so having fun in the sandbox will have to come another way.
While driving around the city, you can find around 40 open cases just waiting for you to solve them, and they could be anything from bank robberies to following murderers, high speed chases, to shootouts. To find these side missions, just hop in a police car, helpfully hidden throughout the city, turn on the radio, and wait for a call.
With only a few days left until its release, L.A. Noire is front and center in every one’s mind, and based on what we’ve seen in trailer, gameplay videos, and articles, it’s shaping up to be a great game.
