Cinematic Multi-player?

As anyone with a PS3 knows, Uncharted 2, was one of the best games to play. With an incredible story campaign that felt like more than just a weak feature added on to mollify the masses having to pay full-price for a multi-player focused game. It looked great, played superbly, and had multi-player of its own so even after you had beaten the game you could continue to get that rush you felt after clearing an entire room of people without being noticed.

However, Uncharted's multi-player failed to take off as well as the developers, Naughty Dog, hoped. Being put along side of games like Call of Duty, and Battlefield, with a longer history of good online, and a larger fan-base, Uncharted's online held its own well, but failed to excel. Now Naughty Dog has decided to work harder to make its online standout against the masses, while still having a fantastic single-player. Will it succeed? Only time will truly tell, but it sure sounds like it.

As with the last game, Uncharted's multi-player will have the same controls and mechanics as the single-player, however there will be a few changes made the game much more interesting
and keep people coming back. Like many games, the multi-player mode has a perk system, called medal kickbacks, these can be used to get you out of a sticky situation by disappearing in a cloud of smoke or fire, as well as the boosters from Uncharted 2, like faster running speed while aiming. However, unlike the boosters from the original online, Naughty Dog has said that there won't be a handful of load-outs that works best for everyone, but people will be encouraged to find their own combinations to suit their style of play.

One of the most interesting additions is the set pieces added to keep the tension high. In on map you have to fight for control of a large cargo plane attempting to take off, the map ends when the plane takes off and which ever team is still on at the end will be the victors. In Chateau, a large jungle area with a ruined building at the center, the game starts off with the building being set on fire, and from there the building will fall apart periodically forcing people to adapt to a changing environment.

While everyone is looking forward to Uncharted 3's bound to be epic single player campaign, the multi-player is shaping up to be what keeps people playing the game long after Drake's made off with the treasure and the girl.
